Favorites in Microsoft Edge work a little bit differently than they do with other browsers. The most important thing to understand with Edge is that it is not possible to import favorites from an HTML file. However, importing favorites from other browsers is much simpler with Edge than it is with Internet Explorer or other browsers.
As of August 2015, Edge is able to detect favorites from Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer. Edge favorites used the same file structure that was used by Internet Explorer.
Steps To Import Favorites From Internet Explorer to Microsoft Edge
- Open a new Edge browser window.
- In the upper right hand corner of the browser select the icon with three lines of varying lengths.
- From the menu that appears select "Import Favorites"
- Select "Internet Explorer" and click "Import."
- Edge will then automatically detect the favorites from Internet Explorer and they will be available in Edge.

- Navigate to the folder: c:\Users\<username>\AppData\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\
AC\MicrosoftEdge\User\Default.
- Use the mouse or the "Shift" and arrow keys to select all the Internet Shortcuts and files in the folder.
- Right click on the selected items.
- Choose "Copy" from the menu that appears.
- Navigate to the folder where you wish the Edge Favorites to be stored.
- Right click on a blank area of the folder and choose "Paste."
- The favorites will appear and be stored in the selected folder.
Steps To Restore Favorites From Edge
- After following the steps in "To Backup Favorites With Edge," select the backed-up Internet Shortcuts and folders using the mouse or the "Shift" and arrows keys.
- Right click on the selected files and select "Copy."
- Navigate the Windows 10 File Explorer to Navigate to the folder: c:\Users\<username>\Favorites.
- Right click on a blank area in the File Explorer folder window and select "Paste."
- Close File Explorer.
- Open the Edge browser.

- Right click on the selected files and select "Copy."
